This cute French cafe has been one of our favorite breakfast / lunch places for many years. We used to drop by here for breakfast on a Saturday morning every few months after we visited the Cars & Coffee event in Irvine. The savory crepes and lattes were so good and all the staff led by the manager Jeff were so kind to us. Sadly the Cars & Coffee in Irvine was shut down about 3 years ago and we have not been up this way much since then.
But we have missed this wonderful cafe. Now that a new Cars & Coffee event has recently started nearby at the Outlets at San Clemente we have the perfect reason to recommence our love affair with La Galette. We came back here for lunch yesterday and it was just like old times. The Tuscany coffee is back, the hazelnut syrup is back and the best crepes anywhere are still here though the varieties available have been reduced.
Having said that there have been other breakfast / lunch options added to the menu. A lovely young server name Kendall took our order for a couple of medium size lattes with 2% fat milk with hazelnut syrup of course and 2 savory crepes. The place was quite busy when we arrived and people were streaming in the whole time we were there. Our lattes tasted wonderful just like the first time we had breakfast here almost 10 years ago.
Their flavorsome Tuscany roasted coffee beans makes all the difference to us. Of course our delicate & filling savory crepes tasted outstanding just as we expected. It was lovely to catch up with Anna the manager ( Jeff’s wife ) and the kitchen chef Hoss who knows how to whip up a crepe or two. Great tasting food, warm friendly service and delicious coffee makes this place hard to beat. And you get a beautiful San Clemente ocean view from your table !
