There are those who are coffee connoisseurs like us and those who drink Starbucks. We enjoy the best quality coffees at home every morning and look for nothing less when we go out. When my wife and I checked into our Airbnb house in the Highlands district of Denver, CO about 5pm on Tuesday, August 30th it was 92F. OMG ! Yes Denver was in the middle of a rare and untimely heatwave. My wife had found this coffee shop online just a 10 minute walk from our house which would be our first stop the next morning. Novo Coffee roasts their own coffee beans which is a big deal to us . . big time coffee snobs. The reviews sounded good, the photos looked great and our expectations were high.
It was already hitting 80F at about 8.30pm the next morning when we drove here . . street parking was not a problem. It’s a cute little hole in the wall place . . well laid out and very organized. It looked a HAPPY PLACE ! Even though we were here for coffee we were looking for breakfast food too . . didn’t see any ! We fronted at the service counter and a smiling cashier named Julz took our order for 2 x Lattes with 2% milk and salted caramel syrup. I dropped the hint that we were pretty fussy coffee drinkers . . a kind of challenge. It was pretty quiet when we sat at a table near the entrance and watched Chris the barista go about her business. Within a few minutes I walked over to collect our brilliant looking lattes.
EXTREMELY DELICIOUS . . the house espresso . . chocolate, berry & caramel massaged every tastebud in our mouths ! Of course we had to congratulate Chris the very talented barista. On Thursday, September 1st we dropped in here about 8.30am. This was to be our HUGE DAY during our one week vacation in Colorado . . seeing Robert Plant / Alison Krauss with opening act JD McPherson in concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre later in the evening. A friendly cashier named Avery looked after us when we ordered 2 x double shot lattes in 12 oz cups with 2% milk and salted caramel syrup. And Chloe the barista knocked them outa the ballpark as they tasted sensational.
We can always tell if they train their baristas. As we were sitting quietly enjoying our well made lattes a female customer sitting at the espresso counter was making enjoyment sounds while eating what appeared to be a burrito. WHAT ! Turns out Novo Coffee bring in a few fresh made BREAKFAST BURRITOS. We made a mental note for future reference. AGAIN WE LOVED OUR FABULOUS LATTES ! On Friday, September 2nd it was time to move on to our next stop . . Breckenridge. But we needed a nice breakfast first . . right here ! After finding out on Thursday they brought in a few fresh made BREAKFAST BURRITOS every morning we figured it could be a one stop brekkie.
My wife phoned ahead soon after they opened on Friday and yes they had a few Vegetarians Breakfast Burritos left. We hightailed it down here just before 8.30am. Payton the cashier took our order for 2 x double shot Lattes in 12 oz cup with 2 % milk and salted caramel syrup plus 2 x Vegetarian Breakfast Burritos. Chris the very talented barista made our lattes and they looked amazing when I collected them from the espresso bar counter. Our Breakfast Burritos were ready soon after. Our well made lattes were OVER THE MOON DELICIOUS and our breakfast burritos tasted quite good. We were very impressed with everything we enjoyed here and the friendly staff were the best. We had found our HAPPY PLACE in Denver !
