Cafe 21 University Heights

WOW FACTOR !

Cafe 21

My wife and I moved into a house in University Heights a few years ago. We used to ride our bikes along Adams Ave and noticed this cafe next door to a liquor store. Every Sunday when we rode our bikes past we could see the cafe was packed out. So we turned up one Sunday morning to have breakfast and see what all the fuss was about. A very friendly server named Adam found us a table and came by soon after to take our breakfast order.

Shrimp Cakes

The lattes that Adam made for us tasted superb. The Vegetable Scramble my wife ordered came with Mashed Potato and String Bean Salad and wow did she enjoy that. I absolutely devoured my Shrimp Corn Cakes and Poached Eggs combo with Pesto Sauce drizzled over and a big glass of fresh Orange Juice. The atmosphere was great and the background music fit perfectly. We put this place on our return again list !

Wrap

Another day we came here for lunch. We wanted something simple, different and made with quality ingredients. The one place that came to mind was Cafe 21 because we have been more than happy every time we visited here. My wife had a Chicken Pesto Sandwich and I ordered the Humpty – Dumpty Sandwich. Both came with a choice of sides and we chose fruit. May I add that the fruit was as good and fresh as you could get.

Tapas

My wife and I were shopping downtown most of the day on a Thursday and decided we had to have dinner at Cafe 21 before the drive home to Solana Beach. We walked in around 5.30pm to be greeted by our old friend Adam who we hadn’t seen in ages. They were kind enough to ready a corner table for us inside as it was a pretty chilly evening. We decided on a tray of tapas and a dessert with the help of our talented server.

Choc cake

Our server Taylor who kindly explained it was Happy Hour until 6pm which meant all the tapas and desserts were only 5 bucks each . . what a bargain ! We ordered a couple of hot decaf lattes in the meantime and soaked up the cosy relaxing atmosphere inside. It was a real treat sharing our 4 tapas plates and the wickedly delicious flourless chocolate cake. It was great to have dinner here again because this cafe is as good as it gets !
