We have dined at a number of Din Tai Fung restaurants in California and everything has always been top notch. In fact we recently returned from a 2 week vacation in New York where we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the new Din Tai Fung on Broadway . . the first location on the East coast and the largest in the world. DISNEYLAND ! On Tuesday we had a date with Disneyland and we knew that Din Tai Fung had recently opened in the Downtown Disney District . . our preferred lunch destination. After parking our wheels in the gigantic parking lot we made our way here around 12.30pm to see what the wait time was like . . a hostess named Ewans told us just 15 minutes. AND THEN !

We headed off for a couple of hours to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge district to check out the Millennium Falcon and go on the ride. IT WAS ALL GREAT FUN ! At 2pm I added us to the Yelp waitlist which was still around 15 minutes. We arrived at the check-in line outside at 2.20pm and by 2.25pm we were shown to a table by lovely hostess Kylie. VERY GLAMOROUS ! We walked past the huge central bar which looked beautiful. It is great that each Din Tai Fung restaurant has it’s own architectural personality. After so many lunch and dinner visits over the years to multiple Din Tai Fung restaurants we have our absolute fav dishes down pat. BUT FIRST !

We asked for iced waters and a beer . . a Blue Moon Belgian White would have to do. The beer list is pretty average here. I told our server Andrew that I enjoyed an Allagash White . . a much better beer in New York. To say the restaurant was packed would be an understatement . . it was almost overflowing. FOOD ! So we stuck with our gang of six lunch items that have become our favs . . 1 x Shrimp & Pork Spicy Wontons, 1 x String Beans with Garlic, 1 x Shrimp & Pork Dumplings, 1 x Shrimp & Pork Potstickers, 1 x Noodles with Sesame Sauce and 1 x Pork Shanghai Rice Cakes. My tall glass of ice cold Blue Moon beer ( on tap ) arrived promptly and tasted good enough.

Our server Andrew excused himself as his shift had finished and he introduced us to his replacement Anthony. By 2.50pm our dishes started to come out one by one until everything was in front of us . . the Pork Shanghai Rice Cakes came last. Of course everything tasted excellent as always . . it is the Din Tai Fung way that each location provides the same very high standards of food, drinks and service. We surprised ourselves and pretty much cleaned up everything on our table. On the way out I met up with Sydney one of the managers who told us she was trained by our good friend Harrison Park the GM of the incredible Costa Mesa restaurant . . our fav. YOU WILL LOVE IT HERE !
