Who doesn’t love a delicious breakfast to start their day ? Soon after moving to La Jolla late in 2025 we started searching for a new breakfast spot. I found this place on Google Maps…the reviews were off the charts and the menu looked even better ! We finally made it here for an early morning Sunday breakfast in March. OUTSTANDING ! Everything we ordered was made with care and attention to detail. We knew a return visit was a must. THE RETURN ! My wife loves a fabulous dine out breakfast on Sundays….a nice break from making it at home. And with my birthday coming up on Sat, July 4th we decided to have a birthday breakfast here on Sunday morning. No problem nabbing a 90 minute free street parking spot on Girard Ave around the corner. We arrived outside the front entrance before opening time at 8am. WOW ! And it was none other than Gabriel the GM who invited us inside to be seated…he even remembered us from our first visit. We have our fav spots so we chose the same table as last time with a great view of the entire restaurant. LUCKY US ! Now Gabriel is a very special talent….a people person and a total foodie rolled into one. And it was Gabriel who helped us with our breakfast order. FIRST UP ! We asked for a couple of CAPPUCCINOS as good as we’ve enjoyed in Italy and Gabriel delivered…we loved them. FOOD ! My wife went with a BACON AND CHEDDAR OMELET ( Tillamook cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon, smashed avocado – a side of griddled potatoes or stone ground grits ) and asked for crispy Griddled Potatoes plus a side of Sourdough Toast. I decided on the CRAB CAKE BENEDICT thanks to Gabriel’s recommendation jumbo lump crab cakes, sliced avocado, poached eggs on a toasted English muffin topped with Hollandaise – a side of griddled potatoes or stone ground grits ). I requested hard poached eggs, crispy griddled potatoes and a glass of fresh squeezed Orange Juice. THE SCENERY ! While waiting for our meals I did go for a walk around the outdoor patio and yes there is a lovely ocean view. We were more than happy with the cosy vibe inside. WHOO HOO ! Our delectable looking breakfast dishes arrived together courtesy of Eric the cheerful food runner. OMG ! My wife was over the moon enjoying her huge Bacon & Cheddar Omelet and the Smashed Avocado…loves avocado. WOW ! I have never ordered crab cakes for breakfast in my life but my Crab Cake Benedict tasted truly mouthwatering…the crab tasted as fresh as can be. Oh and I loved the sweetness of my orange juice. SURPRISE ! A serve of Stone Ground Grits was brought out by Gabriel….my wife likes them but I am not much of a fan being an Aussie. However I tried some and it tasted very creamy though a bit bland. Gabriel said they like to sweeten them in his home country. VERY RELAXING ! To be honest we were having such a lovely time…this is very unhurried place much to our liking. HEY IT’S MY BIRTHDAY ! Out came a serve of JAVI’S FRENCH TOAST ( thick slices of Bread & Cie Challah griddled and served with candied walnuts, fresh strawberries and mascarpone honey butter ) courtesy of Gabriel who told us it is considered the best around. TRULY DELICIOUS ! Let me tell you I have seen friends and family enjoy French Toast but I’ve never seen one as tempting as the one in front of us…we loved every mouthful. SURPRISE ! Just as we leaving we ran into Alvy our wonderful server and good mate from our previous visit…we had a nice catch -up chat. We almost always go out for dinner to celebrate my birthday but we had the time of lives here enjoying our amazing breakfast while being spoilt rotten by Gabriel the superstar GM !
