Madeleine Cafe & Bakery

FRENCH PANACHE !

Croque Monsieur.

This is our favorite place to grab lunch near home. It has been so rotten hot for the past week in Southern California . . I’m hot once it hits 75F but it has been worse than that. So we jumped in my car around midday and headed straight here. Even in this oppressive heat their shaded front patio is a cool retreat. Emmanuel the cheery co-owner was very happy to see us. Business was going briskly he told us and no wonder because the food & service here is the best in Solana Beach.

Iced Caramel Macchiato.

We kept it simple with an order for 1 x Cortado, 1 x Iced Caramel Macchiato & a Croque Monsieur to share ( best Croque Monsieur in San Diego County ). Jessica the co-owner and wife of Emmanuel was working the kitchen today . . and doing a sensational job too. Our coffee drinks arrived in seconds thanks to Emmanuel. My ice cold Caramel Macchiato hit the spot perfectly and my wife was very happy with her rich creamy Cortado. Emmanuel brought out our amazing looking Croque Monsieur with an extra plate a few minutes later. I dissected it so we could share and it tasted absolutely scrumptious as usual. It was great to get out of the house for a little while. We loved our lunch here !

I'm an expat Aussie ( now a naturalized American citizen ) who moved to Southern California in 2006 with my American born wife Sherri. I like to write reviews about the most memorable restaurants, coffee shops, cafes, brew pubs and anything new that we find in our travels. I particularly look for excellent food & beverage consistency, good value for money plus friendly service.
