I can hear you all sayin’ . . you gotta be kiddin’ ! During our stopover at Denver Airport late last year while enroute from New York to San Diego we enjoyed a very nice lunch at this eatery in Terminal C. Definitely good enough for a return visit ! My wife and I arrived at Denver Airport about 11am on Tuesday, September 6th for the flight home to San Diego after our one week vacation in Colorado. I said to my wife we must find this Root Down restaurant so we can have a decent lunch . . I couldn’t quite remember it’s exact location. We ran into a helpful airport ambassador who told us Terminal C. THANK YOU ! We arrived at Root Down around 11.30am and it was packed out just like last time.
I put our name down with the host who said it would be about a 20 minute wait for a table. NO PROB ! We’ve had so much crap food at airports over the years that waiting 20 minutes to enjoy a good lunch is a no brainer. By 11.50am we were seated at a table near the front of the restaurant. TOO EASY ! A friendly server named Surafel came by within a short time to help us. A couple of waters and a hazy pale ale would be a good start. In fact I asked for the same hazy pale ale I enjoyed here last time. WAY TO GO !
When Surafel returned with my ice cold beer we ordered our lunch . . 1 x SMOKED TURKEY CLUB ( swiss, avocado mash, beefsteak tomato, tender belly bacon, sriracha mayo & sweet potato fries ) for my wife and 1 x BEEF BURGER ( tender belly bacon, aged cheddar, sriracha mayo, pretzel bun & waffle cut sweet potato fries ). My wife asked for regular fries instead of sweet potato ones. ALL GOOD ! My ice cold hazy pale ale tasted great ! Our lunch order arrived in record time and looked astounding. My wife’s Turkey Club Sandwich was bigger than her head and tasted fabulous. My Beef Burger tasted excellent . . cooked perfectly and the Waffle Cut Sweet Potato Fries were addictive. We loved our lunch break here !
