Vivolo’s Chowder House

SENSATIONAL SERVICE !

On the first night of our 7 day vacation in Pacific Grove early in October this amazing restaurant was our first choice for dinner . . and they didn’t disappoint. The friendly attentive service from servers Victor & Alberto, the incredible Clam Chowder, Fried Calamari, craft beer selection and mind boggling cheesecake got our attention so we had to return. After a fun day riding our eBikes we decided a nice relaxing dinner here would be perfect. Alberto the amazing server from our first visit greeted us wholeheartedly and found us a table on the patio with a huge heater for my wife. Of course we intended to try other items on the menu this evening but I had to order an Almanac Love Hazy IPA straight off the bat.

Alberto also brought glasses of cool water and complimentary fresh baked Artisan Bread to our table. Do not underestimate this humble looking eatery . . the menu is huge and the quality of the food is first rate. That’s why we were here again only 3 nights later. My wife and I decided we wanted to share a Dungeness Crab Sandwich ( Whole Sandwich ) with Salad ( instead of Fries ) for our entree and have a different appetizer each. We both chose soups.

My wife wanted a small Bowl of Clam Chowder while I decided on the Boston Pan Roast ( Prawns, Scallops, Oysters & Bay Shrimp in a Creamy Bisque ). In the meantime I was enjoying my delicious Love Hazy IPA . . one of the best craft beers going around ! Our soup appetizers came out and let me tell you my huge bowl of my Boston Pan Roast tasted off the planet . . so much succulent seafood soaked in the creamy bisque. My wife totally enjoyed her bowl of Clam Chowder.

And then out came our Dungeness Crab Sandwich with Salad to share ( on 2 plates as requested ). OMG it looked mouthsational and was fully loaded with juicy crab chunks. We loved it ! Of course we were pacing ourselves because on our last dinner visit here Alberto pulled a rabbit out of the hat when he served us Bailey’s Cheesecake ( maybe the best ever ). So we were hoping for MORE amazing cheesecake and Alberto hit a home run again when he brought us Pumpkin Cheesecake.

The chef must be a genius . . 2 times here for dinner in 3 days and we get 2 of the best tasting cheesecakes ever ! At the end of our dinner visit I wandered inside to use the bathroom and had a chat with Ryan the manager ( the owner’s son ) in the kitchen. I told him that Alberto was a sensational server. We thought one of the best ever ! Without a doubt this place was the highlight of our stay in Pacific Grove. We so wanted to make a 3rd dinner visit here but we ran out of time !
