My wife and I decided to have dinner here last Monday on the first evening of our 4 day visit to San Jose. We had rented a cute 2 story house not far from The Alameda on edge of downtown San Jose so it was a short 15 minute drive to the restaurant which is inside Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara. After parking our rental SUV in the huge carpark we walked inside the shopping mall. We arrived at the front entrance around 7pm to be greeted by 2 friendly young ladies at the hostess desk.
One of them said about a 5 minute wait ( we didn’t have time to make a reservation ) but we were shown to a table within seconds. It’s a very pretty restaurant inside with lots of zones and bold accents so much more interesting than the one we go to at UTC in San Diego. It was quite busy when we sat at our table . . more than we expected for a Monday evening. Waters were brought to our table straight away and then our friendly server Marissa arrived a couple of minutes later.
We ordered a couple of appetizers . . Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Dumplings + Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Pot Stickers and I ordered a Strawberry / Mango Smoothie. I had to have the Pork Chop Fried Rice entree ( first time ) and my wife decided on Noodles with Minced Kurobuta Pork Sauce ( something new ) Everything arrived quickly and seamlessly like on a magic carpet. Our server Marissa looked after us very well. My Strawberry / Mango Smoothie tasted sensational.
Our delicious appetizers disappeared quickly and so did our fabulous tasting entrees. I think it is incredible that we can jump on a plane & travel several hundred miles and dine at another location of Din Tai Fung which serves us fantastic food of the same quality which we get at the Din Tai Fung near our home in San Diego. And you have to remember that at least 2 of their restaurants world wide have been awarded Michelin Stars. Daniel the manager came by our table to thank us for choosing his restaurant.
