Coya Peruvian Secret

FLAVORSOME CUISINE !

My wife and I have been here for lunch many times in recent years mostly when the place was known as Cafe Secret. The business changed hands a little while back but the business name didn’t get passed on hence the new name which I like. Maria and Piotr the new owners are doing a great job keeping things the same but adding new stuff too. We rode our eBikes a few miles from home on Sunday specifically to have lunch here on a beautiful Southern California day.

Complimentary Pinon Nuts.

Rodrigo the manager looked us after from the moment we walked in because he remembered us from our last visit. It was quite a hot day so the tall glasses of iced cold water and the Complimentary bowl of Pinon Nuts Rodrigo fetched for us while sitting at our shaded table were greatly appreciated. My wife wanted a Chicken Empanada and I ordered a Beef Empanada. They are huge Empanadas and great value for money. My wife thought we should go halves on an Organic Quinoa Tamale.

I also ordered a tall glass of Fresh Squeezed Passion Lime-Aide. We always enjoy eating here because the place has a wonderful old world vibe plus the food and service are really good ! My beautiful looking ice cold Passion Lime-Aide came out and tasted so refreshing. Our huge Empanadas arrived soon after with their usual side of fresh Baby Spinach Leaves. They tasted full of good quality ingredients and were full of rich flavor. The pastry texture is fantastic !

Our Organic Quinoa Tamale dish was brought out by Rodrigo. It had lots of color with a couple of Fried Eggs & Baby Spinach Leaves on the side . . it’s usually a breakfast dish. We shared it and it tasted pretty decent. It was a bit different from a regular Tamale in that it wasn’t wrapped in a Masa dough as my wife explained to me. Our lunch was very enjoyable and we thanked Rodrigo for his wonderful service. A great cafe which is always near the top of our list !
