Salty’s at the SEA

SENSATIONAL LUNCH !

My Tropic Haze IPA.

We were on our way to Paris to commence our 3 week vacation in Italy and France but first we had a 6 hour layover in Seattle Airport, WA. My wife and I arrived here around 1pm after a 3 hour flight from John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, CA. LUNCH ! We needed a really good lunch before the next leg of our flight . . . a 10 hour one to Paris. And then another 2 hour plus flight to Naples and finally a one hour limo drive to Salerno. This was the first time we have been to this airport so it was all new to us. I asked a Delta Air Lines staffer at their help desk what’s your fav place to eat at this airport ? Salty’s was his enthusiastic reply. LET’S GO ! We finally found Salty’s at the every end of the terminal.

Full bar.

A very charming hostess welcomed us warmly when we turned up . . in fact it was Alexandria the AGM. The restaurant was very busy but Alexandria showed us to a table within a few short minutes. A lovely server named Javonna came by our table to take our lunch order. First up I needed a really good beer . . . and Javonna delivered with a delicious Silver City “Tropic Haze” IPA. And we asked for iced waters. LOTS OF SEAFOOD !

My Buttery Manila Clams Starter.

We ordered 1 x BUTTERY MANILA CLAMS Starter ( 1 lb local clams sautéed in white wine, mirepoix, fennel, garlic, butter with grilled sourdough ), 1 x PRAWN PUTTANESCA ( san marzano tomatoes, kalamata olives, capers, basil, thick spaghetti, pecorino romano, with herbed sourdough ) and I x SEAFOOD CIOPPINO ( salmon, halibut, rockfish, scallops, prawns and clams in a rustic tomato broth, herbed grilled sourdough ). MUST BE GOOD ! The place was smokin’ . . not a vacant seat in sight.

Prawn Puttanesca.

Within a very short time a huge dish of seafood was placed in front of me . . . I thought it was my mains. Daaah . . . it was my humongus starter of Buttery Manila Clams. DARN DELICIOUS TOO ! I ate every one of those tender little suckers. Very soon after our entrees arrived . . . everything looked totally amazing. My wife loved every bit of her flavorsome Prawn Puttanesca and I totally enjoyed my fully loaded Seafood Cioppino. After all that great seafood we thought lattes and maybe some dessert would a good finale. We mentioned to our sweet server that we would kill for a good latte. Javonna told us we would get great lattes because she was a trained barista.  AND WE DID !

White Chocolate Mousse Cake.

We really enjoyed our rich creamy lattes made by our talented server / barista Javonna. DESSERT ! Out came Salty’s Famous White Chocolate Mousse Cake ( delicate white chocolate mousse cake, raspberry coulis drizzle ). It was very very delicious ! Alexandria the AGM dropped by to make sure we were having a good time. YES INDEED ! We said it was a total surprise to enjoy such a great lunch with exceptional service at an airport. WITHOUT A DOUBT OUR BEST AIRPORT LUNCH EVER !
