My wife’s son who lives locally recommended this New Orleans style restaurant to us while we were in town for a few days on work related stuff. We walked here from our hotel in Nob Hill just a few hours after we flew in from San Diego. We were both pretty famished after a lousy excuse for a breakfast back at San Diego airport very early in the morning. Even if we had not been to good ol’ New Orleans previously we would still love this flavorsome style of food.
The place was quite busy when we walked at 1.30pm but there was no waiting line much to our relief. The hostess showed us to a table in the 2nd dining room with a nice view of virtually the whole restaurant. The decor is kind of groovy with the huge wall of mirrors of every shape and size. The place has a cool bustling atmosphere and I’m sure gets very packed out for dinner . . probably breakfast / brunch too.
Our server brought us glasses of cold water and explained the lunch specials. I decided on the Spicy Pasta Orleans because the description sounded irresistible while my wife was happy with the Andouille Sausage & Chipotle Sauce Po’ Boy. I chose not to have a beer with lunch as I am not a big fan of Abita beer and there was nothing else to choose that I liked. Our lunch order arrived in next to no time and looked very well presented . . large serves.
My Spicy Pasta Orleans loaded with seafood & Andouille Sausage tasted heavenly while my wife loved the flavor of the spicy Andouille Sausage in her Po’ Boy. We enjoyed an interesting chat with a friendly young couple at the next table. My wife and I love eating at places a bit left of center and this Cajun gem fitted perfectly. Great tasting food, efficient friendly service and surprisingly good value. We returned for a hearty breakfast for the next morning !
