Sapori e Delizie

FABULOUS SERVICE !

Green Killer IPA.

My wife and I flew into Rome on Thursday, March 20th . . 18 months after our first vacation here. The flight from LAX in Los Angeles, CA was very enjoyable except for the annoying 2 hour layover at Boston Logan International Airport. Talk about hopeless airport staff ! We were staying at a nice 2 bed / 2 bath apartment in Monti within view of the Colosseum for 3 days . . in fact very close to where we stayed last time. After the long flight we didn’t have anything planned for the day except for lunch at our fav cafe in Monti. After that we stopped at an express supermarket so I could grab some decent craft beers. I picked up some pretty potent beers . . stuff I was familiar with from our first visit.

Diavola Wood-Fired Pizza.

RELAXING ON THE PATIO ! While I was kickin’ back with my ice cold beers on the outdoor patio ( with a view of the Colosseum ) my wife was scouting Google Maps for good dinner spots not too far way. BINGO ! And we both agreed after checking out the menu that Sapori e Delizie would be the one that night. A BRISK WALK ! We built up a bit of an appetite walking here from our apartment in Monti. A server named Flavia gave us a warm welcome when we stepped inside around 6.15pm. A CHILLY EVENING ! We settled down at a table in the intimate dining room even though they had plenty of seating available outside. FIRST UP ! Gotta have a craft beer and they did . . GREEN KILLER IPA – abv 6.5%.

Rigatoni Alla Amatriciana.

Funny name for a Belgian beer but it tasted darn good. ENTREES ! We opted for a wood-fired pizza . . DIAVOLA ( Pomodoro, mozzarella, salame piccante ) and a pasta dish . . RIGATONI ALLA AMATRICIANA ( Pomodoro, guanciale, pecorino, pepe nero ). FAST SERVICE ! Our dinner order hit the table faster than a bullet train. Our on the ball server Flavia provided some fresh grated parmigiana for our pizza and pasta. EVERYTHING TASTED GREAT ! We were more than happy with the texture and flavor of our Diavola Neapolitan pizza. The perfectly cooked Rigatoni soaked in the rich flavorsome Amatriciana sauce tasted perfect. We thanked Flavia for her very thoughtful service. A NICE DINING SPOT !
